Custom Mirrors

Mirrors cut to the exact inch with polished or beveled edges — vanity mirrors, mirror walls and shaped pieces, made in our Houston shop.

An off-the-shelf mirror almost fits. A custom mirror fits exactly — wall to wall over a double vanity, floor to ceiling in a dressing area, or a beveled-panel wall that turns a dark dining room into the brightest room in the house. Bobbitt Glass and Mirror Company cuts mirrors to size at our Houston shop, finishes the edges in-house, and installs the finished piece safely.

Mirrors are one of the oldest parts of our trade and still one of the most satisfying: the right mirror changes a room's light, size and feel for less than almost any renovation. Tell us the wall; we will help you choose thickness, edge and mounting, then make it.

What You Get with Our Custom Mirrors

Cut to the exact size

Wall-to-wall bathroom mirrors, vanity mirrors, gym and studio walls — measured in fractions, cut once.

Polished & beveled edges

Clean polished edges for a modern look, or a beveled edge that frames the mirror without a frame.

Outlet & fixture cutouts

Mirrors cut around outlets, faucets and lights so the glass fits the wall, not the other way round.

Mirror walls

Beveled-panel mirror walls that double a dining room's light and space — a Houston classic, done properly.

Safety-backed glass

Safety backing available where code and prudence call for it, especially baths and gyms.

Made at 807 Rochow St

Cut and finished by our own glaziers, not shipped from a warehouse — changes and fixes stay local.

Options & Materials

A custom mirror starts with the opening: full-wall, vanity-width, or a shaped piece. Edge choice changes the character — flat polished for modern rooms, bevels from a subtle quarter inch to a statement inch-and-a-half. Add cutouts for outlets and sconces, safety backing for bathrooms and exercise rooms, and mounting choices from discreet clips to adhesive systems for flush looks. Bring a photo of the wall and rough measurements to the shop, or call (713) 523-7369 to talk through the project before you measure.

How the Job Works, Step by Step

  1. 1

    Assessment

Call and describe the problem. Where possible we assess the damage first — a cracked pane, fogged unit, broken hardware or a mirror that needs replacing — and tell you honestly whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

  2. 2

    Written quote

You get a clear price for the agreed work before anything starts: glass type, thickness, finish and labor, all spelled out. No surprises when the job is done.

  3. 3

    Measuring & ordering

We take exact measurements and order or cut the glass and materials to size. Tempered and safety glass is ordered to code for doors, showers and low windows.

  4. 4

    Installation

Our glaziers remove the damaged material, fit the new glass or unit, seal the edges and check the operation of the window or door. Work areas are protected and left clean.

  5. 5

    Final check

We inspect the finished work with you in good light. You get care instructions and our number for anything that comes up later.

Care & Maintenance

Mirrors last for decades with gentle care: wipe with a soft cloth and a small amount of glass cleaner sprayed on the cloth — never soaked onto the mirror, because liquid running into the edges is what blackens old mirrors ('desilvering'). Keep bathroom mirrors ventilated after showers where possible. If an edge chip or black spot appears, call us early; small mirrors can sometimes be re-cut smaller to remove damage.

What Affects the Price?

No two homes in Houston are the same, so honest pricing starts with a look at your actual project. These are the factors that move the number most:

  • Mirror size and number of pieces
  • Edge treatment — polished, beveled or framed
  • Cutouts for outlets, faucets and lighting
  • Glass thickness and safety backing requirements
  • Delivery and installation complexity — stairs, tight baths, high walls

For general planning numbers, see our Price Guide — those are market ranges, not our prices. Your exact, written price comes free with your quote: call (713) 523-7369.

Custom Mirrors — Frequently Asked Questions

Can you make a mirror to fit my exact wall?+

Yes — custom mirrors are measured, cut and edged to the exact wall. Bring dimensions (or ask about measuring) and whether you want polished or beveled edges, and we will quote it.

What is the difference between polished and beveled edges?+

Polished edges are smooth, clean and modern. Beveled edges have an angled cut around the perimeter that acts like a built-in frame. Both are finished in-house; samples at the shop make the choice easy.

Do you install the mirrors you make?+

For large or high mirrors, yes — professional installation ensures correct support and safety. Smaller mirrors can be collected from the shop with the right clips and guidance.

Can a chipped or black-edged mirror be saved?+

Often, yes. If the damage is at an edge, the mirror can sometimes be cut down to a smaller, clean size. Bring a photo and measurements and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth it.

How much do custom mirrors cost?+

The honest answer is that it depends on size, material and the condition of the existing opening. Beware of anyone who quotes a firm price without measuring. Bobbitt Glass and Mirror Company measures first and then gives you a written quote with the full price — free — so you can compare it properly.

How long does a typical custom mirrors project take?+

Measuring and ordering take the first part of the timeline; the on-site work for most homes is completed in a day. Larger or custom projects take longer, and we give you the schedule in writing before you commit, so you can plan around it.

Do you offer free estimates?+

Yes — call (713) 523-7369 and we will arrange a free consultation and written quote. There is no obligation and no pressure to decide on the spot.

Do you serve my part of Houston?+

Bobbitt Glass and Mirror Company serves the areas listed on our Service Areas page. If your neighborhood is close to a listed area but not named, call us — we will tell you straight away whether we can reach you.

What should I prepare before installation day?+

Clear the area around each opening, take down curtains or blinds if we are not replacing them, and move fragile items away from the work zone. Our team protects floors and furniture, and removes the old units and packaging when the job is done.

Can custom mirrors be customized for unusual sizes or shapes?+

In most cases, yes. Arches, angled tops, oversized openings and out-of-square frames are measured individually and made or ordered to fit. Bring us the awkward opening — it is usually the one that benefits most from a custom solution.

What information helps my quote be accurate?+

Rough measurements (width × height in inches), a photo of each opening, and a note about what you want to change. Send those when you call (713) 523-7369 and your written quote will be faster and closer to the final number.

What happens if something is not right after the job?+

Call us. Bobbitt Glass and Mirror Company stands behind its work: if something we supplied or installed is not right, we come back and make it right. That is how a local business keeps its name — one fixed problem at a time.
