Where is your shop?+
807 Rochow St, Houston, TX. Hours are Mon–Tue 8am–2pm and Wed–Fri 8am–5pm. Call (713) 523-7369 before visiting with a project so we can be ready for you.
I have a broken window. What do I do first?+
Call (713) 523-7369 and describe the problem. For breakage, cover the opening safely, keep glass shards away from children and pets, and measure the visible glass size if you can — that speeds up your quote.
Can you repair windows other companies say must be replaced?+
Often, yes. Reglazing and glass replacement repair most old windows for a fraction of replacement cost. We assess honestly: if the frame itself is rotted through, we will tell you replacement is the smarter money.
Do you cut glass and mirrors to size?+
Yes — mirrors, shelves, tabletops and replacement panes are cut to your measurements. Bring exact dimensions (measure twice) or ask about assessment and measuring.
What is safety glass and where is it required?+
Safety glass is required in doors, sidelites, tubs and showers and low windows near floors. We stock and order tempered and laminated glass that meets code for each location.
How long have you been in business?+
Bobbitt Glass and Mirror Company — the 'Since 1938' in our name is the point. Nearly nine decades of Houston glass work stands behind every pane we set.
What exactly is reglazing? (Window Reglazing & Glass Repair)+
Reglazing means removing the old, failed putty (or glazing points and compound) that holds the glass, resetting or replacing the pane, and sealing it with fresh compound. It restores the weather seal and the rattle-free fit of an old sash without replacing the window.
Is reglazing cheaper than replacing the window? (Window Reglazing & Glass Repair)+
Almost always far less — commonly a third or less of a replacement window's installed cost, and it preserves original sashes that are part of a historic home's character. We give you both numbers when both are realistic, and you decide.
How long does installation take? (Window Installation)+
Most single-window and small projects finish in a day; full homes are scheduled in stages so your house is never left open overnight. We confirm the schedule before any work starts.
Do you remove and dispose of the old windows? (Window Installation)+
Yes — old units are removed and hauled away as part of the job, and the openings are cleaned, insulated and sealed before the new windows are set.
Can you make a mirror to fit my exact wall? (Custom Mirrors)+
Yes — custom mirrors are measured, cut and edged to the exact wall. Bring dimensions (or ask about measuring) and whether you want polished or beveled edges, and we will quote it.
What is the difference between polished and beveled edges? (Custom Mirrors)+
Polished edges are smooth, clean and modern. Beveled edges have an angled cut around the perimeter that acts like a built-in frame. Both are finished in-house; samples at the shop make the choice easy.
How thick should glass shelves be? (Glass Shelves)+
Tempered glass only — never ordinary glass. Thickness depends on span and load, typically 3/8" to 1/2" for shelving. We calculate it from your measurements and what you plan to display.
How much weight can a glass shelf hold? (Glass Shelves)+
Properly specified tempered shelves on the right brackets hold surprising weight — books, barware, equipment. Tell us what will live on them and we will size glass and brackets to match, with honest limits.
